Client

A global leader in access management developing next-generation security products. Estigiti joined where embedded face biometrics had to be integrated into a custom device platform and made useful inside the wider access-control system.

Objectives

Improving the facial-authentication experience, benchmarking and optimizing video quality, improving matching performance, customizing the Ambarella Yocto-based SDK and toolchain, and expanding the device beyond face recognition into BLE, NFC, and control-system integration.

Challenges

The work crossed image quality, matching accuracy, platform customisation, multimodal credentials, and protocol-level system links through OSDP and Wiegand.

Solution

Estigiti supported the project as an extension of the customer’s own team over a two-year engagement. On the core biometric path, the work focused on facial-recognition authentication, video quality benchmarking and optimisation, and improvement of matching behaviour. On the platform side, it included customisation of the Ambarella CV25m environment and its Yocto-based base system and toolchain.

The scope then widened into operational integration: support for NFC credentials and BLE, integration with a central unit over OSDP and Wiegand, development of an IoT gateway for home automation, and a WebRTC-based remote doorbell capability.

Results & Benefits

Stronger biometric experience

Authentication quality and matching behaviour moved closer to product needs.

More complete access stack

The system supported facial recognition alongside BLE and NFC paths.

Better fit with real control systems

OSDP and Wiegand integration made the output operationally useful.

Broader connected-product capability

IoT gateway and remote-doorbell work extended the device beyond a narrow terminal role.
